POEM
1: “Underface” ( by Shel Shiverstine)
Paraphrase:
The
poem goes over the idea that there is an unseen face—a darker, nervous and
quiet side beneath the outward look. It is said that this hidden face
is more honest and true to the speaker's inner self.
Attitude:
It
is a
thoughtful, reflective attitude. Being sincere and a desire to express the
character of the speaker's identity are obvious.
Shift:
The
shifting moment is when the "underface," which is different from the
outside appearance, is revealed. The change shows the contrast between the true
self that is hidden and the public face.
Opinion:
In
my opinion "Underface" is a well written poem
that does a great job of expressing the common experience of trying to maintain
one's private honesty with one's public face.
Recommendation:
I would
really
recommend this poem to friends because of the poet's lovely word choice.
